wedding memories

I've had some requests for pictures of Jim and me so here you go.

Jim and I recently celebrated our anniversary so for family home evening we decided to show our wedding video to the kids. They thought it was great fun to watch Mommy and Daddy when we were so young. I was enjoying their reactions until Jimmy said that I looked fat – thank you Jimmy! But I guess he made up for it later when he said that I looked beautiful in my wedding dress. Afterward we talked about the temple and then we had “wedding cupcakes” (Ben called them puffcakes) for the treat. As I watched my boys stuff their mouths full of cupcakes I realized that they have absolutely no manners at all – where did I go wrong!?

It was fun taking a trip down memory lane. Jim and I lived in the same apartment complex in Provo while we were both attending BYU. Before I dated Jim I actually dated his friend Joel. When Joel and I broke up Jim and I really became good friends. I started to like him a lot. I even started studying in the engineering building (even though my major was Marriage, Family and Human Development) in the hopes that he would come out of the “geek lab” and talk to me. I know it’s pretty pathetic but it worked because every time I was there he would come hang out with me. Needless to say, I didn’t get much studying done. When things were going really good his friend threw me in for a loop by asking me out. I was like, Oh crap! (Sorry Matt). But I went out with him and I was thinking about Jim the whole time and I think my date knew it (sorry again Matt). Luckily Jim had no reservations about dating the same girls his friends have dated because he asked me out a week after that. It was kind of awkward when we moved from just friends to officially dating. I have his friends to thank for that because they all had bets going about when Jim was going to kiss me. I guess this gave Jim some anxiety because he certainly took his time, but eventually we had our first kiss and then it stopped being so awkward and we were really enjoying our time together.

About a month or so after we had our first kiss Jim’s dad created yet another awkward moment by sitting us both down and bringing up the “M” word. I have Craig to thank for what turned out to be one of the most humiliating and awkward moments of my life, but I guess it turned out to be a good thing because it got us moving in the right direction. Jim ended up proposing to me a couple months after that. He asked me to marry him while we were riding in a carriage through temple square – very romantic!

It has been an amazing 6 years with Jim. He is above and beyond the best husband that I could ever ask for! He is the best daddy to our kids and he is my very best friend! I know I am getting kid of sappy but I want him to know how much I love and appreciate him. I look forward to a lifetime of many more funny, happy, sad, exciting, emotional and spiritual memories and spending forever by his side!

So sweet! Jimmy doesn't know fat - you have NEVER had an ounce of fat on your cute little body. You are the best mom and wife; I need to take some lessons. Love ya!

Megan, I knew the first time you came to our home that we wanted to keep you. I still have Sandy's fingernail prints in my knees from her trying to get me to stop talking to you and Jim about marriage. Hmmmm, maybe I knew what I was doing after all????
Love, Craig
